The Top 10 Drag Queen Hair Looks from Rupaul’s Drag Race UK

London Fashion Week may be over, but Rupaul’s Drag Race UK Season 3 has just begun. The Drag Race Runway is infamously influential to the global fashion scene, putting renowned fashion designers to shame (if our queens manage to hit the mark.) And while you might get away with a bad hair day on the professional runway, you can be sure as hell Rupaul in all her glamazonian glory won’t let it slide. Drag race UK Season 3 is finally here, and with it a chance to look back at the fiercest and fishiest drag queen hair from the Herstory of Drag Race UK. So, ladies, start your engines. And may the best woman… Win!

Bimini Bon Boulash’s PreHERstoric Look

Bimini Bon Boulash’s PreHERstoric Look

“Scientists agree that eukaryotic cells, which humans are made from, evolved from bacteria over two billion years ago… doesn’t get much more prehistoric than that!” – Bimini Bon Boulash

Since the not-so-distant days of Drag Race UK Season 2, Bimini Bon Boulash has proven herself repeatedly to be a fashion powerhouse in the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. Featured in Vogue and ES magazine, our Bimini love affair started with her beautifully bacterial PreHERstoric look. Bimini broke boundaries as she floated down the runway in her purple Iris van Herpen inspired laser-cut dress. How can I describe this hair? Think surrealistic intertwined braids and waves mimicking the flagella of some ancient life-sized amoeba.

The Vivienne Posh on a Penny Look

The Vivienne Posh on a Penny Look

Winner of Drag Race UK Season 1, it’s hard to find an episode where The Vivienne doesn’t look polished. Even when wearing a dress manufactured from cassette tapes, Viv serves her trademark ‘fashion, face, and all-over drama’. Her ice blonde hair is crimped (for the gods), with enough volume to sink a ship. With this colossal pageant drag queen hair, its not hard to see how The Vivienne snatched the crown from the competition.

Want this level of drama? You’re going to need a whole lot of hair for this look, try a set of hair extensions to achieve hair worthy of a drag race runway.

A’Whorea Entrance Look

A’Whorea Entrance Look

There’s no place like home… A’Whorea arrived into the werkroom of Drag Race UK Season 2 on a tantalising tornado with this Wizard of Oz inspired Dorothy look. With sparkly red beat the house down boots and a perfectly curled brunette barnet, A’Whorea was truly a queen to be reckoned with. Her drag queen hair was accessorized with a large blue gingham bow, a bang on trend and oh-so-cute entrance look for this fierce fashion queen.

Divina DeCampo’s Weird Science Look

Divina DeCampo’s Weird Science Look

A red wig and a silver dress? I don't think so. Davina wowed us with her water plant-human hybrid look, delivering bright blue mermaid waves that would make even our girl Ariel jealous. The sea foliage creeping around her aqua drag queen hair and tinged blue skin transported us to an underwater realm of nymphs, mermaids, and submerged drag queens.

Bimini Bon Boulash’s Finale Look

Bimini Bon Boulash’s Finale Look

Back to Bimini (we couldn’t resist!) To wrap up season 2, Bimini served up this unapologetic punk couture bridal look. And while short, her hair is the level of delightfully whimsical we’d expect from a drag race finale. Combining a turned-up ice blonde bob, a soft and spiky top piece, and a vanilla soft serve fringe, Bimini’s drag queen hair is truly a fashion force to be reckoned with.

Baga Chips A Day at the Races Look

The first queen to grace the workroom of Drag Race UK, we sure as heck miss the self-proclaimed Queen of The Battered Sausage on our screens every week. Baga Chips serves up a bag of blooms in this fabulous Season 1 day at the races look. Sporting an afro of bright yellow flowers, Baga is truly in full bloom with this look. Much Betta!

Crystal’s Bond Girl Glamourama

Crystal’s Season 1 Bond Girl look turnt and terrified with a whole lot of latex, rope and yes, a whip. Sorry Maisie Williams! Crystal wore her long black drag queen hair in the highest of ponytails, using a black latex leather hood and headpiece to shock and stun the judges. This look gives us serious Xenia Onatopp domanatrix vibes. This time Mr Bond, the pleasure will be all ours.

Veronica Green’s Monster Mashup

Some of the more Avant Garde drag queen hair is presented by Veronica Green, in her Season 2 Monster Mashup look. In a bizarre blend of medusa and a pig (?!?), it’s hard to look away from her writhing locks/snakes. Babe (the pig) better watch out, there’s a new spooky snout in town.

Asttina Mandella East London

While Asttina didn’t last as long as we’d hoped, her hometown look bagged her a win in the first episode of Season 2. Wearing her drag queen hair in stunning long box braids, Asttina embodies the streets of east London in true road-girl style with a cropped puffer jacket, gold chains and a box of fried chicken (obvs).

Astina spoke about her hometown look. “I’m from East London where we love to play on being trashy and be a mess. That’s my drag scene. I love to get ugly and be silly. East London allows you to explore and go crazy with no rules.”

Tayce Entrance Look

We have to say, Tayce is probably one of the most attractive people (in and out of drag) to grace the screens of Drag Race UK. Her entrance look exhibited her trademark drag queen hair in full glory, lusciously long, silky-smooth locks that give us serious Naomi Campbell vibes. We love the addition of face framing hair clips to tie in with her monochrome overcoat. UK Hun?

Drag Race UK Season 3

When is Rupaul's Drag Race UK on? Luckily for us Drag Race UK Season 3 has already graced the screens of BBC3. Rupaul's Drag Race new season airs online every Thursday at 7pm. We’ve already been introduced to the new Drag Race queens, and they are FIERCE. If you haven’t watched episode one yet (what are you doing?!) head to BBC iPlayer to get in the Drag Race spirit. If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else! Can I get an amen?
