The reviews are pouring in for the latest instalment in the Bridget Jones franchise. And, even though it has been a long time since the second release, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. So, if you’re a Bridget fan, head out to the cinema and catch her newest adventure as soon as possible – we already have! As you probably know, Bridget is having a baby. But, if you want to know who the daddy is, you’ll have to catch the flick – we don’t want to spoil it for you.
In some ways, the movie has been overshadowed by talk of Renee Zellweger and her almost unrecognisable face. You might remember, in the first half of 2016, she was photographed looking like she’d had some serious work done. While the actress has denied the rumours, it’s difficult to understand how somebody can change so much, so fast. Fortunately, her hair is still following the laws of physics and looking characteristically glam.
So, join us as we take a closer look at the changing hairstyles of everybody’s favourite cinema singleton.
The Paris Ponytail
At the Paris premiere for the movie, Renee sported a pretty simple ponytail. She wore it low on the nape of her neck, with a subtle centre parting and few adornments. We reckon that she was keen to let that beautiful Caroline Herrera dress speak for itself. She’s a massive fan of the designer and couldn’t stop gushing about it. If you’re searching for a low key, low maintenance hairstyle, you can’t go wrong with a pony and wearing it in this way keeps it soft and feminine. For a splash of colour and a bit of extra glam, wear a pretty hair corsage too.
The Back to Basics Updo
The forty-something star showed up at a second premiere wearing a similar hairstyle, but looking every bit as fabulous. While her face may have changed, it’s hard to deny how happy and healthy she looks. Most actresses would be tempted to ‘over doll’ their tresses for a red (in this case, pink) carpet, but we like that she’s comfortable keeping things simple. This low maintenance, low slung chignon would look amazing with the addition of a wet look crown, so dig out your hair products and start channelling your inner catwalk queen like Miss Z here.
The Returning Cover Girl
The September/October issue of Elle magazine features Renee on its cover, with the promise that she is still the same talented lady that we know and love; despite a few cosmetic changes. She looks demure and gorgeous, with very natural, tousled waves. This is the kind of hairstyle that makes an impact, but does so quietly. If you want to steal it, combine a texturising spray with clip in hair extensions. Together, they’ll give you the length you need for soft, caressable curls and plenty of body and bounce. For defined but easy to create curls, wind the ends gently around your fingers, hold, and release.
The Throwback Thursday
Time for a little blast from the past now, with this adorable ringlet-y look from 1999 movie The Bachelor. This was when Renee was just starting out and she looks so innocent and cute. These are the kind of curls that are great for swinging around glamorously; whether in your favourite nightclub or out on the high street. You’ll need to get your curling irons out and spend some serious time on styling if you want to get this one right – that is, unless you’re fortunate enough to have wild and wonderfully natural curls.
