We all want our hair to look its best and our hair extensions to last longer. So many of the pictures we take are made or broken by how good our hair looks. Think about it, no one has enough money to get a new outfit daily so the way we style our hair is an affordable and easy way to change a look. I don’t know anyone who has a professional to treat your hair all the time so if you want your hair to look good with minimal effort, you will need to treat it well. These tips are ways I have found improve my hair and extensions to keep my hair looking fabulous all of the time.
Tip#1: ignore heads to toes
There seems to be a myth going around (and it has been for generations) that you should be brushing your hair from the roots to the ends. This is the wrong way to go about it. By starting at the roots you are likely to tighten knots rather then smooth them out so start at the ends and you are likely to get a better, faster results.
Tip#2: you are what you eat
This is common sense and you probably have heard me mention before but have you ever looked up what affect your favorite foods have on your hair? If you haven’t, google it. If you have had a rough patch nutrition wise it is easy to turn around and you will quick see hair improvement.
Tip#3:deep treat once a week
A hair treatment shouldn’t be considered a rare reward for an occasion. I don’t mean to say it has to be laborious but making it part a weekly routine will keep your hair and hair extensions from fraying and getting fly ways.
Tip#4:brush dry
Make sure that you don’t have wet hair when you brush your locks. Make sure it is at least partially dry to make it less likely to fall out.
Tip#5: invest in a cap
Sick of getting frizzy hair in the shower in between washes? Invest in a shower cap to keep the air moisture away from your hair.
Tip#6:count your washes
You should not be washing your hair more than once or twice a week. It doesn’t sound like much but it will help your hair oil regulate itself and stop your hair drying out more.
Tip#7: know how to wash
This sounds so basic but so many people wash their hair and extensions wrong and make them flat and dry. Unless you have been rolling around in mud you should only be shampooing your roots and not your ends. This will stop your hair drying out. Equally if you want to stop your roots becoming flat don’t condition them.
Tip#8: switch pillowcases
Satin is brilliant for your hair as it reduces friction from moving in your sleep. If that isn’t in the budget right now at least put a clean pillow case on to keep hair cleaner for longer.
Tip#9: heat protect
This is a big one. If you are going to use heat, protect your hair. You wouldn’t sit out all day without sunscreen. It is the same premise. Protection will help stop damage.
Tip#10: dry shampoo
This is your best friend on in between days, when you are travelling and even helps you get more volume. In short, use it.
